How to Dual Boot Windows 8 with Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon.

Hello friends Welcome to PupilSpot1, In this tutorial I am going to show you how to Dual Boot Windows 8 with Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon. After learning this lesson you will be able to Dual Boot Windows 8 with Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon and you can use both operating system in a single machine.

Now Let's start the tutorial.

First, you have to create a partition of your hard drive in Windows 8. To do this go >> to My Computer , right click and Select Manage and then click on disk management. Here on your C drive right click and select shrink volume. See the figure below

After this select the size of your partition. Give your desired partition space and now click on shrink.

Now insert the Linux Mint 12 Cinnamon DVD disk into the drive and restart the computer. When you restart you should be able to see press any key to boot from CD or DVD.

When the Setup is start Click on Install Linux Mint 

Select the Language and Click on Continue.

After this a prompt will open which tell you that your Computer should have at least 5.2GB available Drive space and your computer should be connected to the internet. 

After this the "Installation Type" prompt will open. You have to select "Something else" and click on Install Now. See the figure below

After this you will see the free space that you created in Windows 8, you have to select the free space option and click on Add button see the figure

On this step you have to create a swap file so click the Logical button to make sure that your drive partition is logical and then give your desired partition size in the partition size bar. Make sure your Location of the new partition is on "beginning". After this drop down the "Use as" bar and select "swap area" and click ok. To understand more accurately see the figure below

Now again click on the free space and then click on the Add button and select the primary partition and location as beginning of this space and use as (Exr4 journalling file system) and mount point as ( / ) and click Ok. to understand more clearly again see the figure below

After this select the partition ext4 and then click Install Now.

 After this the simple installation procedure will come. You will do easily your next installation procedure.

After reboot your system,  select Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon. to finish the installation.

You are done.
